  चाणक्य नीति : पांचवा अध्याय | Chaanaky Neeti : Paanchava Adhyaay

ब्राह्मणों को अग्नि की पूजा करनी चाहिए . दुसरे लोगों को ब्राह्मण की पूजा करनी चाहिए . पत्नी को पति की पूजा करनी चाहिए तथा दोपहर के भोजन के लिए जो अतिथि आये उसकी सभी को पूजा करनी चाहिए . 

Agni is the worshipable individual for the twice conceived; the brahmana for different stations; the spouse for the wife; and the visitor who comes for food at the late morning feast for all. 

सोने की परख उसे घिस कर, काट कर, गरम कर के और पीट कर की जाती है. उसी तरह व्यक्ति का परीक्षण वह कितना त्याग करता है, उसका आचरण कैसा है, उसमे गुण कौनसे है और उसका व्यवहार कैसा है इससे होता है. 

As gold is tried in four different ways by scouring, cutting, warming and beating - so a man ought to be tried by these four things: his renunciation, his lead, his characteristics and his activities. 

यदि आप पर मुसीबत आती नहीं है तो उससे सावधान रहे. लेकिन यदि मुसीबत आ जाती है तो किसी भी तरह उससे छुटकारा पाए. 

A thing might be feared as long as it has not overwhelmed you, however whenever it has happened upon you, attempt to dispose of it without a second thought. 

अनेक व्यक्ति जो एक ही गर्भ से पैदा हुए है या एक ही नक्षत्र में पैदा हुए है वे एकसे नहीं रहते. उसी प्रकार जैसे बेर के झाड के सभी बेर एक से नहीं रहते. 

Despite the fact that people be brought into the world from a similar belly and under similar stars, they don't turn out to be indistinguishable in attitude as the thousand products of the badari tree. 

वह व्यक्ति जिसके हाथ स्वच्छ है कार्यालय में काम नहीं करना चाहता. जिस ने अपनी कामना को ख़तम कर दिया है, वह शारीरिक शृंगार नहीं करता, जो आधा पढ़ा हुआ व्यक्ति है वो मीठे बोल नहीं सकता. जो सीधी बात करता है वह धोका नहीं दे सकता. 

He whose hands are spotless doesn't care to hold an office; he who wants nothing focuses not on substantial enrichments; he who is just part of the way instructed can't talk pleasantly; and he who stands up doubtlessly can't be a double crosser. 

मूढ़ लोग बुद्धिमानो से इर्ष्या करते है. गलत मार्ग पर चलने वाली औरत पवित्र स्त्री से इर्ष्या करती है. बदसूरत औरत खुबसूरत औरत से इर्ष्या करती है. 

The learned are begrudged by the absurd; rich men by poor people; virtuous ladies by adulteresses; and lovely women by revolting ones. 

खाली बैठने से अभ्यास का नाश होता है. दुसरो को देखभाल करने के लिए देने से पैसा नष्ट होता है. गलत ढंग से बुवाई करने वाला किसान अपने बीजो का नाश करता है. यदि सेनापति नहीं है तो सेना का नाश होता है. 

Lethargic application ruins study; cash is lost when endowed to other people; a rancher who plants his seed scantily is demolished; and a military is lost for need of an officer. 

अर्जित विद्या अभ्यास से सुरक्षित रहती है. 

घर की इज्जत अच्छे व्यवहार से सुरक्षित रहती है. 

अच्छे गुणों से इज्जतदार आदमी को मान मिलता है. 

किसीभी व्यक्ति का गुस्सा उसकी आँखों में दिखता है. 

Learning is held through incorporating; family renown is kept up through appropriate conduct; a good individual is perceived by his astounding characteristics; and outrage is found in the eyes. 

धर्मं की रक्षा पैसे से होती है. 

ज्ञान की रक्षा जमकर आजमाने से होती है. 

राजा से रक्षा उसकी बात मानने से होती है. 

घर की रक्षा एक दक्ष गृहिणी से होती है. 

Religion is safeguarded by riches; information by constant practice; a lord by placating words; and a home by an obedient housewife. 

जो वैदिक ज्ञान की निंदा करते है, शास्र्त सम्मत जीवनशैली की मजाक उड़ाते है, शांतीपूर्ण स्वभाव के लोगो की मजाक उड़ाते है, बिना किसी आवश्यकता के दुःख को प्राप्त होते है. 

The individuals who swear Vedic insight, who scorn the way of life suggested in the satras, and who criticize men of tranquil demeanor, end up badly pointlessly. 

दान गरीबी को ख़त्म करता है. अच्छा आचरण दुःख को मिटाता है. विवेक अज्ञान को नष्ट करता है. जानकारी भय को समाप्त करती है. 

Good cause puts and end to destitution; exemplary direct to hopelessness; carefulness to obliviousness; and examination to fear. 

वासना के समान दुष्कर कोई रोग नहीं. मोह के समान कोई शत्रु नहीं. क्रोध के समान अग्नि नहीं. स्वरुप ज्ञान के समान कोई बोध नहीं. 

There is no illness (so damaging) as desire; no foe like fascination; no fire like rage; and no satisfaction like profound information. 

व्यक्ति अकेले ही पैदा होता है. अकेले ही मरता है. अपने कर्मो के शुभ अशुभ परिणाम अकेले ही भोगता है. अकेले ही नरक में जाता है या सदगति प्राप्त करता है. 

A man is conceived alone and kicks the bucket alone; and he encounters the great and awful outcomes of his karma alone; and he goes alone to hellfire or the Supreme habitation. 

जिसने अपने स्वरुप को जान लिया उसके लिए स्वर्ग तो तिनके के समान है. एक पराक्रमी योद्धा अपने जीवन को तुच्छ मानता है. जिसने अपनी कामना को जीत लिया उसके लिए स्त्री भोग का विषय नहीं. उसके लिए सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड तुच्छ है जिसके मन में कोई आसक्ति नहीं. 

Paradise is nevertheless a straw to him who knows profound life (Krsna awareness); so is life to a fearless man; a lady to him who has curbed his detects; and the universe to him who is without connection for the world. 

जब आप सफ़र पर जाते हो तो विद्यार्जन ही आपका मित्र है. घर में पत्नी मित्र है. बीमार होने पर दवा मित्र है. अर्जित पुण्य मृत्यु के बाद एकमात्र मित्र है. 

Learning is a companion on the excursion; a spouse in the house; medication in ailment; and strict legitimacy is the lone companion in the afterlife. 

समुद्र में होने वाली वर्षा व्यर्थ है. जिसका पेट भरा हुआ है उसके लिए अन्न व्यर्थ है. पैसे वाले आदमी के लिए भेट वस्तु का कोई अर्थ नहीं. दिन के समय जलता दिया व्यर्थ है. 

Downpour which falls upon the ocean is pointless; so is nourishment for one who is satisfied; to no end is a present for one who is rich; and a consuming light during the daytime is futile. 

वर्षा के जल के समान कोई जल नहीं. खुदकी शक्ति के समान कोई शक्ति नहीं. नेत्र ज्योति के समान कोई प्रकाश नहीं. अन्न से बढ़कर कोई संपत्ति नहीं.
